Biosketch – Élison Santos

Élison Santos, Brazil & USA

I am a Clinical Psychologist, educator, and human rights advocate with over 18 years of experience working across Brazil and the United States. I currently serve as Director of the Instituto IPSapiens in Brazil and the Chrysalis Center for Human Development in Washington, D.C., leading postgraduate education and continuing training for mental health professionals. I hold a Ph.D. and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of São Paulo and have specialized in existential analysis and logotherapy.

Since 2019, I have served on the ICP Board of Directors as Director-at-Large, and currently Chair the ICP Awards Podcast Series—an initiative I launched to strengthen dialogue among psychologists across continents, especially during times of conflict and crisis. I have also served on the Steering Committee of the Global Network of Psychologists for Human Rights and contributed to conference planning and marketing efforts, including the development of ICPs current visual identity.

My work bridges clinical, academic, and intercultural domains, with a strong focus on meaning-centered psychotherapy, suicide prevention, and multicultural mental health. I have published and presented internationally, including collaborations with ICP members such as the Global Arena series coordinated by Dr. Elaine Congress.

I bring to this candidacy a deep commitment to ICPs mission and values, and a desire to continue building spaces for mutual learning, advocacy, and innovation in global psychology.
