I am an Associate Professor in Media Psychology at the University of Salford. My academic journey began in Italy, where I earned a Laurea Degree in Work and Organisational Psychology from the Università degli Studi di Padova. Driven by a passion for fostering positive intergroup relations, I pursued a PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Sussex in the UK.
Since joining the University of Salford in 2012, I have been leading the only MSc in Media Psychology program in the UK, working closely with my colleague, Dr. Adam Galpin. My research primarily focuses on media communication, journalism, and new media, exploring how these elements shape and are shaped by political and social issues. I am particularly interested in the role of media psychology in addressing the climate emergency and promoting actions to mitigate climate change.
I am the co- research lead for psychology and an elected member of the Senate’s Research and Enterprise Committee in my Institution (REIC). I am also actively involved with the UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) and the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). As a representative of UKRN, I am committed to promoting rigorous and transparent research practices within my institution, nationally and internationally, as UKRN representative in CoARA .
Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications, fostering a deeper understanding of the role played by media in our perceptions and behaviours. My goal is to continue contributing to the field of media psychology, inspiring positive change and informed action in society.
