Personal Statement:
As a psychologist dedicated to fostering human rights, dignity, justice, and peace, I am deeply committed to serving on the ICP Board as Director-at-Large. I wish to bring my diverse experiences and leadership skills to this position, ensuring that the ICP continues to thrive as a global nexus for psychologists dedicated to positive change.
I have had the privilege of working in various clinical and research roles across different cultural contexts, particularly focusing on underserved and multilingual populations. My roles at Yale University, Duke University, Albizu University, and various settings in Latin America have reinforced my commitment to evidence-based, culturally sensitive care. These experiences have honed my ability to listen and analyze thoughtfully, think strategically and creatively, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
My multicultural background as a first-generation Latina immigrant from Honduras uniquely positions me to offer a global perspective that aligns with the ICP’s mission of promoting international understanding and world peace. I am passionate about developing opportunities for international networking and information exchange, as evidenced by my active engagement in international research collaborations.
Moreover, I am eager to take on responsibilities such as chairing committees or leading initiatives that align with ICP’s goals. I am committed to preparing diligently for meetings, engaging with colleagues globally, and taking responsibility for assignments. I am particularly enthusiastic about contributing to ICP’s sustainability and succession planning efforts, drawing from my leadership roles in various organizations where I have developed mechanisms for fostering new leaders and ensuring organizational longevity.
I believe my dedication to diversity and evidence-based practices, coupled with my strong commitment to ICP’s mission, makes me a valuable candidate for this role. I am eager to learn from and contribute to this vibrant community, leveraging our collective expertise to create a more just and equitable world.
